Derekah and Becs celebrated their engagement session with me at the absolutely stunning Allerton Park in Monticello, IL. If you’ve never been, let me tell you—it’s a dream. Built in 1900 as the private estate of artist and philanthropist Robert Henry Allerton, the park is now a historical gem. It was donated to the University of Illinois in 1946 and has become a place for anyone looking to take in the beauty of nature, art, and history all in one place.
The estate, once known as “The Farms,” was at the heart of a massive 12,000-acre agricultural project started by Robert’s father, Samuel. The land is rich with history, and the whimsical gardens, sculptures, and architecture make it a perfect setting for capturing memories in any season.
Derekah and Becs’ love was the perfect match for this magical backdrop. They brought such a fun, caring energy to the session, with moments full of laughter, love, and silliness. The connection between them felt effortless, and I swear you could see the way they just fit together—so comfortable and at ease.
We wandered through the gardens, capturing intimate, sweet moments, with the estate’s beautiful, unique features providing the most stunning backdrop. From the elegant architecture to the lush greenery and the vibrant fall colors, it truly felt like we were in a fairy tale. Their connection just popped against the rich tones of the park, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting for their engagement.
Derekah and Becs, thank you for trusting me to capture your love in such an amazing place. Your connection was so easy to photograph, and I can’t wait to celebrate your marriage.
