Ave Turns One
Studio Session

Ave turned one!! There’s something really special about a first birthday, and it’s not in the big, over-the-top moments—it’s in the quiet ones. The ones that make you pause for a second and realize just how much has changed in a year. When Ave came into the studio for her one-year session, everything about it felt soft, intentional, and full of that kind of quiet joy that doesn’t need to be loud to be meaningful.

We kept the space simple on purpose. Soft light, neutral tones, delicate little details that didn’t try to steal the show but instead created this calm, cozy environment for her to just exist in. And that’s really what I always want for sessions like this—space for kids to be themselves without feeling like they have to perform. Because at one year old, everything is still new, still worth exploring, still worth noticing, and you can see that curiosity in every little movement they make.

Ave was right in that sweet in-between stage—curious, observant, and fully taking everything in. The kind of energy where she’s not rushing, not overwhelmed, just… present. And those are the moments that matter most to me. The tiny expressions, the way she looks around the room, the way her hands reach for something new. None of it is forced, and that’s exactly why it feels so real.
One of my favorite parts of the session was watching the connection between her and her mom.

That’s the thing about sessions like this—they don’t need to be overcomplicated to be meaningful. When you strip it back and let kids lead, when you create an environment that feels calm and natural instead of staged, you end up with something that actually feels like this season of life. A year of love, a year of growth, a year of becoming, captured in a way that feels honest and full of heart.
